How to boost your immune system naturally.



Your immune system is  your first line of defence against infections and diseases. It plays a vital role in supporting quick recovery and long-term well-being.  A strong immune system is absolutely crucial for overall well-being.  Here are some natural, simple strategies to boost yours.

 

 

·        Stress – managing stress is vital to our immune system. Stress can surpass the immune system, making you susceptible to illness. Practising stress relief activities regularly, such as breathing exercises, listening to music, meditation, yoga, (the list is endless). These types of activities help lower stress hormones and promote a sense of calm.

 

 

·        Diet – There are certain foods that may negatively impact the immune system. It’s worth reducing, excessive sugar, processed foods, fried foods, excessive alcohol, and highly salted foods. Swapping to a diet that is full of colourful fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains will provide you with an abundance of essential vitamins and minerals and boost your immune system.

 

 

·        Sleep – An average adult needs around 8 hours sleep per night. During sleep your body repairs and rejuvenates itself, boosting your immune system. Establishing a consistent bedtime routine is essential for promoting quality sleep and overall well-being. A calming bed-time routine signals to the body to wind down contributing to a good night’s rest. 

 

 

·        Water - drinking water plays a significant role in maintaining a healthy immune system and helps to flush out toxins. Aiming for 8 glasses a day is the goal. If plain water isn’t your thing, try herbal or fruit teas or add a couple of slices of fruit/cucumber or ginger to add some natural flavour.

 

 

·        Exercise – being physically active boosts the immune system and enhances circulation. You only need to aim for around 30 minutes of exercise a day. Find something you enjoy like walking, dancing, bouncing etc to make the difference.
